Anthony Sergi Brings Home Sixth at Desoto
Another Top-10 for Sergi after Starting Fifth in 75-Lapper
With 10 races already under their belt this season, Anthony Sergi and the No. 20 MJS Concrete team went to Desoto Speedway (FL) this weekend for a 75-lap Super Late Model feature looking to add a fourth top-10 finish to their 2014 stat sheet.
Sergi qualified in the eighth position before the inversion put him up to the fifth spot for the initial start. After running in the top-five for most of the event, a late-race mishap pushed Sergi back just two more spots to sixth when the checkered flag flew.
“The race went well,” said Sergi. “We qualified eighth and they pulled a 12 for the inversion. Overall we had a really good car, we stayed up front the whole race. We ran in the top-four probably the whole race and then on the last restart I messed up a little bit and fell off to sixth and that’s where we finished.”
With another top-10 finish in the books for Sergi and team, they will now set their sights back on New Smyrna Speedway (FL) for the next Bright House Challenge Series event at the central-Florida half-mile on April 5.
“We’re headed back to New Smyrna next,” said Sergi. “We’ve already got a lot of laps there this year and we’re hoping to keep improving with a few more top fives and hopefully a few wins.”
