Anthony Sergi picks up first Victory of the Season
17-Year-Old Wins Super Late Model Feature at Orlando Speedworld
CONCORD,NC (May 14, 2013) – Anthony Sergi breathed a big sigh of relief this past Friday night as he won his first Super Late Model feature at Orlando Speedworld in Orlando, FL. The Florida youngster had visited victory lane before in Late Model action, but not in the fast Super Late Model division.

“It feels amazing!” Sergi said about the win. “I’m just happy I finally have the monkey off my back. It was starting to feel like a gorilla.”

Sergi held off Florida racing veteran Rich Clouser to get the victory.  Clouser, like Sergi is chasing NASCAR Whelen All American Series points between Orlando and New Smyrna Speedway (FL).

“We started on the pole and car was hooked up,” Sergi recalled. “We had a little trouble with lap traffic but overall we started up front and finished up front.”

Sergi then went to Citrus County Speedway in Inverness, FL to compete in a Super Late Model event on Saturday night. This was a non-NASCAR show, but still a chance to learn and get experience with their MJS Concrete Port City Race Car.

“The car was good all practice and was good in the heat race. We were stuck behind the front row for the whole race,” Sergi said. “Then in the feature, we fell to the back with something wrong in the wiring of the car and we were running on seven cylinders.”

Even though, he was short on power, he did finish seventh.

Sergi is now getting his Super Late Model ready to compete this Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL.

“We have a lot of momentum going back to New Smyrna,” Sergi said. “Last time we were there, we led every lap but the last one. But with this win, we are feeling pretty good.”

Sergi has run a total of 16 races this season and posted five runs in the top five and 10 in the top 10. Sergi posted
