World Series Has Ups and Downs for Anthony Sergi
Driver Optimistic for Regular Season at New Smyrna
Anthony Sergi has logged a lot of laps around New Smyrna Speedway.  He is a former Pro Truck champion at the tack and has been racing at the fast half-mile for nearly half a decade.
He knows that the eight-night World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing can run the gamut of emotions from start to finish.  This year’s World Series was no different for the young Floridian, as the eight-night run was full of ups and downs.
“The car was pretty good, especially at practice the Sunday before Speedweeks ever started,” said Sergi.  “On Friday, we got caught up in that early wreck, which is definitely not how I wanted to start Speedweeks out at all.  Tuesday came around and we started on the pole.  We were running third, and got tangled up with David Rogers.  We finished eighth that night so it wasn’t that bad.
“We have been battling tight in the center and loose off all week, and this isn’t a place that you want to have that problem.  With all the rubber that is laid down, the track gets tighter and tighter as the week goes on.   We had a good car when the week started and we just lost it as the track changed.”

Sergi and the team are attempting to make changes to the No. 20 MJS Concrete machine before heading back to the track for the Cracker 200 in March.

“We know what to do to fix it.  We checked the sway bar, and it was all backed out,” said Sergi.  “The car wasn’t the way it should have been to race.  I think that was the reason the car wasn’t good, and it just seems like we can’t get the puzzle pieces to line up when we need them to.  This week we are going to take the whole body off the car, and put a brand new Five Star one on.  Hopefully we will figure out what’s wrong, and come out in the points season running strong. “
