Anthony Sergi Finishes Second at New Smyrna
Loose Spark Plug Wire Prevents a Visit to Victory Lane
Anthony Sergi came within ten laps of going to victory lane this past Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), but a loose spark plug wire prevented that but still finished second in the 35-lap Super Late Model feature event.
Sergi was hoping to make that visit as he was debuting a brand new MJS Concrete sleek Five Star racecar body that night.
“We were going to start third but the driver who was going to start on the pole elected to go to the rear, so we got that spot. We got a real good start and led the field by 12-car lengths for most of the race.” Sergi said. “With ten to go, a spark plug wire came off and we were running on seven cylinders and we end up finishing second.
“We definitely had the winning car that night but bad luck bit us again. But we definitely had a great car, a lot better than what I am used to having.”

Sergi feels he has great momentum going into the Bright House Challenge season opener 100-lap event this Friday night at Orlando Speedworld in Orlando, FL. “It feels good to be on the upside of the ups and downs we have had this past year and hopefully we will get into victory lane soon,” Sergi exclaimed. “Hopefully this week in Orlando we can show them what we have learned with these cars.”
