Sergi Looking For Redemption At New Smyrna
Left Side Weight an Issue in Post-Race Tech
Anthony Sergi crossed the start / finish line under the checkered flag first to seemingly win the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model feature at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Saturday, August 17th. Unfortunately at post-race tech, his third victory of the season was taken away as a result of a left-side weight issue.

Sergi's #20 crossed the scales at a scant 0.1 lbs., over the minimum left side weight allowed by NSS officials resulting in the disqualification.

"I guess I had a problem with the left side weight. We haven't touched the car since last week." Explained the Oviedo, Florida driver. "We'll be back next week to show them what it's all about.  Funny thing is, the car wasn't even 100-percent."

The 18-year-old would start the feature from the pole and was able to fight off NSS legend David Rogers to take the checkered flag.

"The car was really good.  We didn't look back at all.  On the second restart something was breaking in the rear end and I was still able to hold off Rogers."

A return trip to New Smyrna for more NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Late Model competition is on the agenda for Sergi on Saturday, August 24th.
