Sergi Honored as Orlando Champ & Florida State Rookie
Goals Set for 2014 to Return as the State Champion
2013 just ended, but Anthony Sergi is already thinking about what could be in 2014 under the NASCAR Whelen All American Series banner. After taking the track title at Orlando SpeedWorld and being honored as the NASCAR Rookie of the Year in the state of Florida at last week's banquet in Charlotte, North Carolina, Sergi is ready for the next step.
"It was great to be honored a NASCAR Champion," said Sergi. I am also happy to get the state Rookie of the Year title. It's a nice award and also Orlando Speedworld title mean a lot to me."
Anthony Sergi led the state of Florida with starts and placed second in the final overall Florida state standings. Sergi was second in top-10 finishes with 13 and he was third in top five runs with eight. He was just short of being in the top 300 points-earners in North America, an impressive feat for the young Floridian.
"In 2013 we had a bad Speedweeks so we hurt ourselves for the state championship. This coming year we hope to do well right out of the gates to challenge for the state title and the National points."
Sergi will return to action in just a few weeks when the first Super Late Model race of2014 kicks off on Saturday, January 4 at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) for the Redeye 100.
