Mechanical Failure Robs Sergi of Strong Run at Citrus County
Broken Track Bar Mount Leaves Sergi with 17th-Place Finish
Anthony Sergi started 11th in the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series event at Citrus County Speedway (FL) on Saturday night and was running strong before a broken track bar mount sent him to the pits with just 25 laps remaining.
“The race was going good,” said Sergi. “We
were really fast and just riding around there
for a little while biding our time. And then,
I think with about 25 laps to go, we broke a
track bar mount on the axle and it ended our
day. It’s disappointing and I hate it for all of
us and the guys that work so hard, but we’ll
just have to go get them next time.”
Sergi’s 17th-place finish will put him seventh
in the updated series points standings, just
116 points behind leader Steve Dorer.
“Why we’ll just have to overcome it and be
ready to make up some ground at Auburndale in a few weeks.”
Sergi will be back in action in two weeks on June 16th at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) for the next Bright House Challenge Series event at the infamous half-mile oval. The following week, June 23rd, Sergi will rejoin the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series at Auburndale Speedway (FL).
