Sergi Comes from the Rear for Top-Five at New Smyrna
Mechanical Issues Hinder, but Don’t Slow, Sergi’s Charge to Fourth in Bright House Event
Anthony Sergi, working without crew chief BJ McLeod for the weekend, overcame carburetor issues and a sticking throttle as well as an aggressive event that took many strong cars out of competition to finish fourth in Saturday night’s Marion
Edwards, Jr. Memorial at New Smyrna
Speedway.

“We had a good night,” said Sergi.  “BJ was
away up in Pensacola and Mobile, so it was
just us down here in New Smyrna.  We
qualified sixth and then we had a carburetor
problem so we decided to go to the back.
We changed it and started from the back of
the pack.  We went out to race and in the
first 25 laps the throttle was sticking so I
came in under a caution and we got that all
handled and went back out.  Then the car
was just too tight during the whole race and
we ended up finishing fourth.

“Overall it was an alright night, hopefully we’ll won’t have as many issues to work around this week.”

This weekend Sergi will head back to New Smyrna Speedway for a Pro Late Model 100-lap main event on Saturday night, September 29.
