Blown Tire Leaves Sergi Sixth in PLM Feature at New Smyrna
Anthony Sergi Now Looks to Rebound at Desoto
Anthony Sergi was up to second in Saturday night’s Pro Late Model event at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) before a brush with the wall and a flat tire slowed his charge to the front.  Sergi rebounded for a sixth place finish after
pitting to change the flat tire with just
five laps remaining in the 100-lap feature.

“I qualified second and had a really good
car,” said Sergi.  “I started third after the
invert and I got up to second on one restart
and Rich Clouser got around me, so I fell
back to third.  I was trying to fight my way
back up to the front and I went a little too
hard coming out of four and hit the wall.

Then I guess the tire was rubbing on the
fender so at lap 95 the tire went flat.  I
came in and got a new tire, but it was an old
tire, so I couldn’t really drive it anymore.  The car was too loose.  I had three new tires and one old one on the right rear so I just had no grip at all.  From the looks of it, it didn’t look like a very good weekend, but like I said, we had a really good car.”

Sergi and his No. 20 team will now look to rebound and take on the Desoto Super Speedway with the Florida United Promoters Late Model Series this Saturday night, October 6.
