Sergi Gets 15th LM Top-Five Finish of the Season at Desoto
Tough Q-Run Starts Sergi ‘Behind the Eight Ball’ in FUPLMS race
To win a late model race these days, it takes more than just luck and a fast car to succeed.  There are any number of things that could go wrong
during the day to hinder your chances or
take you out of contention altogether.  For
Anthony Sergi, it was a tough qualifying run
on Saturday afternoon that kept him from
battling with the leaders in the Florida United
Promoters Late Model Series (FUPLMS) event
at Desoto Super Speedway (FL).

“We did pretty good overall, considering.”
Said Sergi.  “We went out there to practice
on Friday and Mother Nature cut us short
there, but from 10 to probably about 5 in the
afternoon on Saturday we got the car pretty
good.  We went out to qualify and didn’t have
too good of a qualifying run.  It was driver
error again in qualifying; I just messed up.
I didn’t get my tires hot enough in the front so it messed up all four corners on every lap.

“I started 11th, luckily on the inside, and I think I got about five spots there on the restart and just stayed where I was.  I think I burnt off the right rear tire and just had to bring it home.  In all it was still a good race for us though.”

Next up for Sergi will be the Bright House Super Late Model series event at New Smyrna Speedway (FL) this Saturday, October 13.
