Anthony Sergi Starts UP Late Model Series With a Top Five
Florida Racing Scene Now in Full Swing

It's going to be a busy season of Late Model racing for Floridian Anthony Sergi.  After a successful Speedweeks at New Smyrna Speedway (FL), Sergi will now switch his focus to the Late Model tours in the Florida area.  Up first was a stop at Desoto Super Speedway for the season opener for the United Promoters Late Model Series.  In the first race of the new season, Sergi came home 5th.

"We didn't qualify too well, but we had a good car from the beginning," said Sergi.  "The tires really go away quickly on this track so we had to fight the handle after the first part of the race. In the end we did a great job as a team to get a good finish with a car that was not at its best."

After 25 laps, a caution brought Sergi down pit road in an effort to improve the handle on the MJS Concrete Machine.  The plan worked out as the next caution was around the spot that he was running and he would have likely been swept up in it.

"We get right back to it next week at Orlando Speedworld for the next Bright House Challenge event," said Sergi. "We have a truck Championship at Orlando Speedworld so we know track as well as New Smyrna."

Sergi will be racing on March 10th in that Bright House 100 lap event. After that plans are in place to run his first Blizzard Super Late Model Series event at Five Flags Speedway on Friday, March 23rd.
